Aspley Neighbourhood Police Team updates |

|
Dear residents of City West,
This is to update you on activity myself and the rest of the Aspley Neighbourhood Police Team have completed in the last month.
I've been on a period of annual leave throughout September. On my last shift before going away, me and PC Morgan dealt with a gentleman who refused to leave Grange Farm Medical Centre, in Tremayne Road.
Despite our repeated and patient efforts to negotiate with him, he refused to leave and we were concerned about him intimidating NHS staff. PC Morgan arrested him to prevent a breach of the peace, but offered to take him home. However, he refused this offer insisted on medical treatment. We took him to Queen's Medical Centre where he refused to leave the police vehicle or speak to any medical professional, despite our own efforts and those of NHS nurses.
Again, after more than an hour of trying to negotiate with him, we physically removed him from the vehicle with the assistance of other officers and left within the vicinity of the hospital to speak to medical staff should he feel he required it. This one incident required multiple officers and several hours to deal with one person, who was abusive to NHS staff, refused to go home and after insisting he needed to speak to medical staff, refused to speak to them.
On my second shift back in September, I attended Nottingham Magistrates' Court to apply to extend a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for one of our prolific shoplifters, John Ward. I'm pleased to say the court agreed with the application. This now means it's an offence for Ward to attend the Co-Op stores in Bracebridge Drive, Lambourne Drive, Middleton Boulevard, Asda in Strelley Road and Morrison's Daily, in Broxtowe Lane. He was already banned from attending Morrison's Daily, Aspley Lane and every retail premises in Nottingham City Centre. You can read more about Ward here.
In August, I arrested a 14-year-old boy with a lock knife near Bells Lane Community Centre. At the time he was bailed while our Youth Justice Services team reviewed the case. I am hopeful a decision will be made in the coming days on how the matter will be resolved. You can read more about this incident here.
Our team is aware of ongoing anti-social behaviour in and around the Bells Lane Community Centre. We are regularly patrolling the area, identifying those involved and taking robust action where our powers allow. Our work around this location will be ongoing. We ask that anyone who experiences any issues to call police on 101 or via the online web form. If a crime is taking place or someone is in danger, then call 999 in an emergency.
On our last two shifts in September me and PC Morgan were policing Goose Fair. I am pleased to say our shifts were largely uneventful and passed without significant incident.
Last set, while in Wollaton Vale, I assisted our mental health triage officer with three men who had shoplifted from BP Wollaton. The men's details were confirmed and will be interviewed in due course.
Kind regards,
PC McKay | ||
